Girls on the Run began in Charlotte in 1996 and has since expanded to serve 200,000 3rd-8th grade girls nationally each year. The programming is designed to enhance girls’ social, psychological and physical skills and behaviors to successfully navigate life experiences. Girls on the Run’s intentional curriculum places an emphasis on developing competence, confidence, connection, character, caring, and contribution in young girls through lessons that incorporate running and other physical activities. Over 50% of program participants in the Greater Charlotte area qualify for some form of financial assistance. 100% of donations from this tournament will benefit the Girls on the Run Charlotte scholarship fund – helping to ensure that all girls are able to participate in this life-changing programming, regardless of financial circumstance.
